Solution

Gaseous exchange in plants:

  1. Plants require O2 for respiration to occur, and they also give out CO2.
  2. Plants do not have specialized organs for gas exchange, but they do have stomata and lenticels.

Lenticels:

  1. A lenticel is a porous tissue made up of vast intercellular gaps between cells.
  2. On stems and roots, lenticels appear as elevated circular, oval, or elongated patches.
  3. Lenticels allow gases to pass between the atmosphere and the organs' interior tissues.
