Solution
Lysosomes:
Lysosomes are simple tiny spherical sac-like structures evenly distributed in the cytoplasm.
Each lysosome is a small vesicle surrounded by a single membrane containing hydrolytic enzymes which are capable of digesting or breaking down all organic materials.
Formation of lysosomes:
Lysosomes are formed by budding off of the Golgi body whereas the hydrolytic enzymes present within these structures are formed within the endoplasmic reticulum.
They serve as the digestive bag which destroys any foreign material entering the cell such as bacteria and viruses.
The lysosomes remove the cell debris and form the disposal system of the cell.
Lysosomes are also known as suicide bags of a cell as this organelle can burst and the enzymes can eat up their own cells after damage.
