Metalloids

Metalloids can be defined as chemical elements whose physical and chemical properties fall in between the metal and non-metal categories. For example - Silicon$\left(\mathrm{Si}\right)$, Germanium$\left(\mathrm{Ge}\right)$, etc.

Properties of non-metals are as follows -

1. All the metalloids are found in solid-state.
2. Just like metals, metalloids also have a metallic luster.
3. Metalloids are brittle like non-metals.
4. Metalloids act as semiconductors which is a very important component of electric circuits.
