Question

What are neutrons? Who discovered these particles?

Open in App
Solution

Neutrons were discovered by J. Chadwick in the year of 1932.

Neutrons, unlike the protons and electrons, have no electrical charge associated with them. But these particles have mass nearly equal to that of protons. Hence, these particles do not affect the neutrality of an atom but is a major component of the mass of an atom. The neutrons are a part of the nucleus.
