Normal salt:

When all the hydrogen ions present in a specific acid get replaced by ammonium ion or metal, then the salt produced is known as a normal salt.

Examples:

• Sodium sulfate $\left({\mathrm{Na}}_2{\mathrm{SO}}_4\right)$
• Calcium carbonate $\left({\mathrm{CaCO}}_3\right)$
• Ammonium chloride $\left({\mathrm{NH}}_4\mathrm{Cl}\right)$.

When ammonium hydroxide$\left({\mathrm{NH}}_4\mathrm{OH}\right)$ reacts with hydrochloric acid$\left(\mathrm{HCl}\right)$, formation of ammonium chloride salt and water$\left({\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}\right)$ takes place.

The formation of a normal salt can be understood by the following reaction:
