What are nuclear pores? State their functions.
Nuclear pore:
Nuclear pores are tiny openings present in the nuclear membrane of the nucleus. They are formed by the fusion of two nuclear membranes.
Function: These pores allow the movement of specific molecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. They allow molecules such as RNA and proteins to move in both directions, between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. RNA synthesis occurs inside the nucleus which further undergoes protein synthesis inside the endoplasmic reticulum as the RNA moves out through the nuclear pore.
