What are pervious and impervious rocks?

The rocks which are porous and allowed water to pass freely is known as pervious rocks and whereas the rock which are not porous and does not allow the water to pass through due to cracks or defects is known as impervious rocks. Impermeable rocks include shales and unfractured igneous and metamorphic rocks .Solid granite is one example for pervious rocks.
