Sources of water pollution: It refers to the places from where the pollutants enter the water bodies to cause pollution.
Point source: Point source refers to those sources of pollution which have a fixed location. Example: Factories are constructed at a particular place and they release the waste into a river or any water body through pipes. Other examples include power plants, coal mines, and oil wells that are situated underground in the vicinity of water bodies.
Non-point source: The source of pollution which is scattered over a large area. Example: Water from the agricultural land entering into the water body. This water brings all the chemicals present in the fertilisers and pesticides from the fields.
