Solution

Promotors:

  • Compounds that are used to increase the function of catalyst.without undergoing any chemical change.
  • It increases the function of the catalyst by increasing the roughness and increasing free valencies and it increases the rate.
  • Example-Molybdenum acts as a promotor for iron catalyst in Haber's process.

Inhibitors:

  • Compounds that decrease the function of catalyst.
  • It is also known as catalytic poison.
  • It decreases the function of the catalyst and gets absorbed on the surface of the reactant and decreased free valencies and decreases the rate.
  • Penicillin acts as an enzyme inhibitor.
  • Example-ArsenicAs, Carbon MonoxideCO, Hydrogen SulphideH2S, Hydrogen CyanideHCN, etc.
