Solution

Protofilaments

  1. An ordered row of tubulin dimers is known as a protofilament.
  2. To create more complicated structures termed cilia, flagella, or centrioles, microtubules can cooperate with other proteins or function independently.
  3. They are created when the two globular proteins alpha and beta tubulin polymerize into protofilaments, which can later interact to form a hollow tube called a microtubule.
