What are rational number

Please explain it in a different way so that I can learn I can't understand app's video.

A rational number is any number that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers, a numerator p (p must definite) and a non-zero denominator q.
Since q may be equal to 1, every integer is a rational number.

Ex :- 2, 5/3, all numbers which we can say in fraction is rational numbers.

√2 is not rational number.
because when it right in p/q form. P is not definite.
that is √2 = 1.414........
therefore not rational number.
