What are represented by the equation x2+xy+y2=0.

x2+xy+y2=0
Comparing with the general equation of second degree ax2+2hxy+by2+2gx+2fy+c=0 ..... (i) we get
a=1,b=1,h=12,f=0,g=0,c=0
Consider,
Δ=abc+2fghaf2bg2ch2Δ=0+0000=0
So they represent pair of straight lines
Factorising the given equation with the help of quadratic formula
x=y±y24y22x=y±3y22
Clearly it gives a pair of imaginary straight lines.
