Part 1: Saturated Hydrocarbons:

  1. Hydrocarbons are Carbon compounds that are formed by the connection of multiple bonds between Carbon and Hydrogen atoms.
  2. The hydrocarbons which contains single bonds are called Saturated hydrocarbon.
  3. They are also known as alkanes.
  4. Example: Methane (CH4) and Ethane (C2H6)

Part 2: Unsaturated Hydrocarbons:

  1. Those hydrocarbons in which Carbon atoms are combined with the double and triple bond are called Unsaturated Hydrocarbon.
  2. Alkenes and Alkynes are unsaturated Hydrocarbons.
  3. Example: Ethene (C2H4) and Ethyne (C2H2)
