Solution

Scalar quantities:

  1. The quantities that have only magnitude and no direction are called scalar quantities.
  2. Example: Mass, length, time, area, volume, speed, etc.
  3. Scalars follow normal algebraic rules.

Vector quantities:

  1. The quantities that have both magnitudes, as well as direction, are called vector quantities.
  2. Examples: Displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, etc.
  3. Vectors follow vector algebraic rules.
  4. Vectors are represented by an arrow. The length of the arrow represents the magnitude while the tip represents the direction.
