A plant which is neither tall nor dwarf but of intermediate height i.e., smaller than the taller one and larger than the dwarf one is called semi-dwarf plant.

There is rice variety which is semi-dwarf - IR36 Produced by the cross between IR8 and parental variety.
It is characterised by highly resistant to many diseases and pest, having a short lifespan.
