Silicones are organo silicon polymers that are made up of alternate molecules of sillicon and oxygen , combined by carbon and hydrogen.

Silicones are prepared by hydrolysis of dialkyldichlorosillanes($R_{2}SiC{l}_2$) or diarychlorosillanes( $A{r}_{2}SiC{l}_2$) which is prepared by passing vapours of $RCl$ or $ArCl$ over $Si$ in the presence of catalyst copper.

Reaction:

$2RCl+Si\to R_{2}SiC{l}_2$

Silicones can be in form of oil or rubber depending on extent of polymerisation
