Soap is an anionic surfactant and these are water soluble sodium or potassium salts of fatty acids and these are made from fats and oils. Other anionic as well as nonionic surfactants are main ingredients in detergents. Saponification of fats and oils is used in soap making process which is the neutralization of fatty acids with alkali.
