What are some characteristics of smooth muscles? Explain.

Smooth muscle cells are elongated and spindle shaped. Each muscle fibre contains a single oval nucleus (uninucleated). They are involunatry i.e., they are not under the control of animal's will. Light and dark bands are absent in smooth muscles.
