IUDs:

  1. Intra-uterine devices or IUDs are a method of contraception.
  2. They are inserted by doctors or nurses in the uterus through the vagina.
  3. They increase the phagocytosis of sperms inside the uterus.
  4. They are reversible, highly effective, and ideal for women wanting to delay pregnancy or space children.
  5. Their life span is of more than 5 years.
  6. Some common IUDs are Copper T, LNG20, progestasert, and multiplied 375.

Some contraindications for IUD use are:

  1. Suspected or known pregnancy.
  2. Current behavior suggest risk for PID or acute PID.
  3. Postabortal or Postpartum endometritis in the past three months.
  4. Abnormal genital bleeding that is undiagnosed.
  5. Previously placed IUD which has not been removed.
  6. Uterine abnormalities, distorted uterine cavity from leiomyomata, etc.
  7. Untreated acute cervicitis or vaginosis.
