Nitrogen-fixing bacteria:

  1. Specific prokaryotes carry out biological nitrogen fixation
  2. Nitrogenase enzymes are used by them to convert nitrogen in the air to ammonia.
  3. Examples of nitrogen-fixing bacteria are species of Bacillus, Azotobacter, Klebsiella, and Clostridium.
