Non-pathogenic bacteria:
Non-pathogenic bacteria are the ones that are incapable of causing any disease.
They are also called non-infectious agents.
They do not harm their host, instead can be beneficial to some.
Examples of non-pathogenic bacteria:
Lactobacillus acidophilus - part of the normal intestinal flora.
Staphylococcus epidermidis - part of the normal skin flora.
Brevibacterium linens are the ones causing the pungent smell of feet and socks.
Escherichia coli functions as normal flora in the small and large intestine and helps in the process of digestion by breaking up undigested sugars. They also produce biotin and vitamin K which are needed in cellular processes.
