Solution
Ecosystem
Plants, animals, and other species, as well as weather and topography, work together to create an ecosystem.
Abiotic variables, or nonliving components, coexist with biotic components in ecosystems.
Goods and services provided by ecosystems
Ecosystems supply many of the basic services that make life possible for people.
Plants filter the air and water, while bacteria break down waste, bees pollinate flowers, and tree roots prevent soil erosion.
Regulation of temperature: Mammals regulate their body temperature carefully and independently of their environment through a process called thermoregulation.
Formation and conservation of the soil: These soil functions include regulating temperature, regulating air quality and composition, cycling carbon and nutrients, cycling and quality of water, recycling and treatment of natural "waste" (decomposition), and providing habitat for the majority of living organisms and their food.
Excess carbon is assimilated: Biological carbon fixation or сarbon assimilation is the process by which inorganic carbon (particularly in the form of carbon dioxide) is converted to organic compounds by living organisms.
