Solution:
Women all around the world have had some progress when it comes to their economic and social status. However, our society still needs to overcome certain critical issues which continue to be detrimental to women. For example -

1. We continue to see a considerable wage gap between the two genders for the same work done in sports, entertainment and other sectors. This disparity exists despite the equal remuneration act of 1976 which states that equal wages should be paid for equal work.
2. Literacy rate among women continues to be lower than men. This then extends to there being fewer women placed at valued and high paying jobs.
3. Another evil that haunts Indian society is sex-selective abortion. Even though it is a criminal offence, parents continue to desire a male child and go to extreme lengths to get a female child aborted before birth. This stems from the belief that girls are a liability while boys are seen as assets.
4. Different treatment starting from an early age at home puts girls at a higher risk of being malnourished.
5. Exploitation and physical violence against women are quite common in both the public and private/domestic sphere.
