  2. Microwave radar is widely used for guiding airplanes and for detecting speeding motorists.
  3. Microwaves can penetrate clouds of smoke but are scattered by water droplets, so they are used for mapping meteorologic disturbances and in weather forecasting.
  4. Microwaves are used in the study of atomic and molecular structure of material.
  5. Microwaves are used in medical treatments.
