Sporangium is an enclosed capsule that contains spores produced in fungi and many more species.
For most fungi to propagate and multiply, they produce and release spores.
A mother cell is a reproductive unit that produces spores.
Mature spores get released and give rise to a new generation once they germinate.
These mature spores can get dispersed by rain, splash, wind, or insects. Therefore, for the spores to develop and mature, they are usually enclosed in special cells known as the sporangium.
Sporophyte:
Sporophyte is a diploid asexual phase cycle of the plants which exhibit alternation of generations.
The sporophyte is diploid multicellular structure, containing two sets of chromosomes, one from each parent.
They will undergo meiotic division (asexual mode of reproduction) that finally gives rise to spores by means of meiosis.
These spores are haploid, which eventually undergoes mitosis and produce haploid multicellular bodies with a single set of chromosomes called gametophytes.
