Spores and their functions:

  1. Spores are single reproductive cells capable of developing into a new individual without fusion with another cell.
  2. Spore formation is an asexual method of reproduction in plants.
  3. In fungi, spores are analogous to that of seeds in plants.
  4. Many spores are stored in a sac-like form called sporangia.
  5. When sporangia burst, single-cell spores are obtained.
  6. During suitable conditions, the spores develop into a new plant.
  7. Fungi like Rhizopus are examples of spore formation.
