Stilt roots:

1. In some plants with tall and weak stems, the roots arise from the nodes close to the soil which provides support to the plant.
2. These roots develop obliquely towards the soil and enter the soil to support the stem.
3. Examples: sugarcane, wheat and maize are examples of plants with stilt roots.
