Open in App
Solution

Ionisation energy is defined as the energy needed to remove one electron from the outermost shell.
A ------ > A+ + e-
The energy required to remove second electron from A+ is called the second ionisation energy
A+ ------ > A++ + e-
Like this you can remove the third electron and is called third ionisation energy.

This series of ionisation energy is called successive ionisation energy.
