Organs

  1. Organs are structures of the body that perform specific functions ,e.g. heart, lungs, liver, eyes, stomach, etc.
  2. Since an organ is made up of several types of tissue, it is also made up of several types of cells.
  3. All tissues and organs are made up of billions of different cells.
  4. Organs of the body function in a coordinated way to form an organ system.
  5. There is a total of 78 organs in the body out of which 10 are primarily large organs:

Skin

  1. It is the largest organ of the body.
  2. The skin is divided into several layers.
  3. The epidermis is mainly composed of keratinocytes.
  4. Below the epidermis is the basement membrane.
  5. This narrow multi-layer structure secures the epidermis to the dermis.
  6. The hypodermis, which is the layer below the dermis, is mostly fat.
  7. It provides a protective barrier against mechanical, thermal, and physical injuries and dangerous goods.

Brain

  1. The brain is one of the largest and most complex organs in the human body.
  2. The brain controls our thinking, memory and language, limb movements, and the functioning of many organs in our body.

Eyes

  1. Eye is a sensory organ that helps with vision and is sensitive to light images.
  2. It is spherical in shape and is enclosed in eye sockets in the skull.

Mouth

  1. The mouth is the body's hollow cavity through which food and air enter.
  2. The teeth, tongue, and salivary gland ducts are just a few of the additional organs found in the mouth that help in food absorption and digestion.

Oesophagus

  1. The digestive system, sometimes known as the gastrointestinal tract, includes the oesophagus (gullet) (GI tract).
  2. An oesophageal tube is made of muscles. It joins the mouth with the stomach.

Heart

  1. The heart is the muscular organ of most animals and pumps blood through the blood vessels of the circulatory system.

Stomach

  1. The J-shaped organ that digests food is the stomach.
  2. It generates acids and enzymes, which are molecules that cause chemical reactions (digestive juices).
  3. Food is broken down by this mixture of enzymes and digestive juices so that it may move to your small intestine.

Small intestine

  1. Small intestine is the part of the digestive system where maximum absorption takes place.
  2. It helps in the absorption of nutrients from the digested food so that it can be absorbed easily by blood.

Large intestine

  1. The extended, tube-like organ with connections to the anus and small intestine on either end.
  2. The cecum, colon, rectum, and anal canal are the four sections of the large intestine.

Anus

  1. The last section of the digestive system is the anus.
  2. The pelvic floor muscles and the two anal sphincters are located in a 2-inch canal (internal and external).
