Eye:

  1. It is the sensory organ for vision.
  2. The eyeball's wall is made up of three layers.
  3. The sclera, choroid, and retina are the three layers of the eyeball wall.

i) Sclera:

  1. It is the exterior layer, which is made up of dense connective tissue.
  2. The cornea is the part of this layer closest to the eye.

ii) Choroid:

  1. It is the middle layer, which is bluish and contains many blood veins.
  2. The layer is thin in the back two-thirds of the eyeball, but it thickens in the front to create the ciliary body.
  3. The ciliary body extends forward to form the iris.
  4. Iris is the visible colored component of the eye.

iii) Retina:

  1. It is the inner layer.
  2. It contains 3 layers of neural cells - ganglion cells, bipolar cells, and photoreceptor cells – arranged from inside to outside.
