  1. It is the series of stages that occur when a cell grows and synthesizes substances that are required for division. And later divides into the daughter cell.
  2. A cell that is going to divide undergoes these stages.
  3. The cell that does not divide further exits these stages and enters the G0 stage.

There are 4 stages of the cell cycle:

  1. G1: Gap 1 stage
  2. S: Synthesis stage
  3. G2: Gap 2 stage
  4. M: Mitosis or division stage.
