What are the advantages of compact fluorescent lamp and arc lamp?

COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMP (CFL)

The main advantages are

1. It is compact, easy to handle.
2. High efficiency- about 4 times more efficient than ordinary incandescent lamp.
3. Long Lifetime-it can work for upto 10000 hours of normal usage.
4. Low power consumption: lamos with power requirements as low as 2 W is possible to be constructed, with same efficiency.
5. Nearly white light: CFL can provide nearly white light.
6. Different color lights can be produced, by inducing vapours.
7. Reliable-CFL has been used for past 10 years, fail less frequently.
8. Produce less heat while working.

Arc Lamps.
They work by an electric arc formation. CFL is a low pressure mercury arc lamp.

The main advantages are

1. More light output : they can be designed for large light output.
2. Efficient
3. Many light colour options like white, red, blue etc.
4. Long life time.

As fluorescent lamps are arc lamps too, you can use same advantages here too.
