Introduction to natural methods of contraception:
Natural methods of contraception work on the principle of avoiding chances of meeting ovum and sperms. Examples include lactational amenorrhea, periodic abstinence and coitus interruptus.
Advantages of natural contraceptive methods:
∙ These methods are cost-effective.
∙ These do not cause any side effects.
∙ These are non invasive and do not involve surgery and hence, can easily be reversed. Artificial methods such as surgical methods (vasectomy and tubectomy) of contraception are irreversible.
∙ These do not interfere with the sexual drive and sexual act.
