What are the advantages of sexual over asexual reproduction?

Sexual reproduction is basically the process of formation of a zygote which is formed after the fertilization of the gametes. gametes are from 2 different parents. variations arise in the sexual reproduction which is due to the crossing over that takes place in the meiosis.

During the asexual reproduction, there is no fusion and no zygote formation. There is no variation and thus the offsprings are clones.

Evolution relies on the variations as it betters the species for survival.
