What are the basic components of PCR?

Open in App
Solution

PCR technique:

  1. The PCR( polymerase chain reaction) refers to a widely used method to make large copies of specific DNA samples rapidly.
  2. The components that are required for PCR:
  1. DNA templates- DNA templates are the DNA segments containing the desired target sequences that would be amplified.
  2. Primers- The primer pairs usually help in hybridizing the sample DNA and recognizing the amplification region.
  3. DNA polymerase- DNA polymerase starts the replication process.
  4. dNTPs- In PCR, dNTPs are used as the building blocks of newly synthesized DNA.
  5. buffer/cofactors- Buffer is used in PCR to ensure an optimal condition during the process.
