Open in App
Solution

There are two basic types of tissues found in plants. They are meristematic tissue and permanent tissue.

Meristematic tissue:

  1. It is also called meristem.
  2. In meristematic tissues, cells remain forever young and divide actively throughout the life of the plant.
  3. The meristematic cells develop into all the other tissues and organs that occur in plants.
  4. The meristematic cells help to increase the length and girth of the plant.

Permanent tissue:

  1. Permanent tissues that are seen in plants are divided into two categories; simple permanent and complex permanent.
  2. The simple permanent tissue is further divided into the parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerenchyma.
  3. The complex permanent tissue is again divided into xylem and phloem.
  4. These permanent tissues help in providing support, and protection, in photosynthesis, and in conducting water.
