Basic unit of heredity:
Heredity or inheritance simply refers to the passing of characters or traits from parents to offspring through sexual or asexual reproduction.
To carry the traits from one generation to another, genes are required.
A gene is nothing but a sequence of DNA that codes for a particular protein.
The character appears in the person through protein expression.
The human genome consists of around 30,000 genes.
