Question

What are the calculations to be done in a bomb calorimeter experiment?

Open in App
Solution

Since volume does not change, a bomb calorimeter measures the heat evolved under constant volume, qv,

qv = C * dT, where dT is the temperature increase. The qv so measured is also called the change in internal energy, dE. Note that dE = qv = C * dT
