The most common causes of damage to the forests are-

Human activities like-

  1. Agriculture- A large number of trees are cut to make farmland.
  2. Mining- Mining also causes deforestation as trees are cut to dig the mine.
  3. Extraction of oil- Oil extraction also causes deforestation.
  4. Construction of dams- A Large number of trees are cut to construct the dam.
  5. Extraction of timber- Trees are cut to extract timbers which are used for mankind.
  6. Expansion and infrastructure- Expansion of infrastructure is also the main cause of deforestation.
  7. Forests are destructed to build buildings and to make furniture.

Other causes include-

  1. Climatic change- Climate change also causes reduced rainfall, which causes trees to die.
  2. Forest fires- Large areas of forests are destroyed due to forest fires.
  3. Global warming- Global warming causes deforestation by climatic change.
