What are the changes that takes place in large intestine during digestion of food?

Large intestine is a chief site for water absorption. Maximum water is absorbed in colon. It also absorbs some durgs. And when feacal matter present in the rectum which intiate neural reflexes which induce rapid paristalsis movements. Because of this movement anal sphincter opens and faecal matter is discharged.
