Dear student,
In the field of electromagnetism, the absolute permittivity, or more commonly known as just permittivity is denoted by the Greek letter (epsilon). It has the following characteristics-
1. It is a measure of the electric polarizability of a dielectric material.
2. A material which possesses a high permittivity polarizes more in it's response to an applied electric field than a material possessing low permittivity, consequently storing more energy in the material.
3. In electrostatics, the permittivity has a very significant role in determining the capacitance of a capacitor.
