Characteristics of red and yellow soil:
1. It is formed by breakdown of igneous and metamorphic rocks.
2. Red and yellow soil found in whole of Tamil Nadu and most part of the Orissa, Karnataka etc.
3. The soil is ideal for Wheat, pulses, jowar, millet cultivation.
4. This soil is rich in iron but lacks in lime, nitrogen etc.
5. These soils are highly fertile, provided they are grained properly.
6. These soils are best suited for dry farming.
