Solution

Colloidal Solution:

  1. It is a heterogeneous mixture made up of two phases namely, the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium.
  2. The components of a colloidal solution are the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium.
  • Dispersed phase: The solute-like component of the dispersed particles in a colloid form the dispersed phase.
  • Dispersion medium: The component in which the dispersed phase is suspended is known as the dispersing medium.
  • Thus, smoke is an example of a colloidal system where the dispersed phase is solid and the dispersion medium is gas.
