A reflex arc is a path traveled by an impulse during a reflex action.
The reflex arc consists of the following parts namely- a specific receptor, an afferent nerve fiber, an association neuron, an efferent motor neuron, and an effector organ.
The neurons of a specific receptor receive a stimulus and set up a sensory impulse.
The afferent nerve fiber conveys the impulses from the specific receptor to the spinal cord.
Association neuron connects the afferent and efferent neurons.
Efferent or motor neuron transmits impulses to the effector organ.
The organ that responds to the impulses received is called an effector organ.
