What are the components of the transport system in human beings?
What are the functions of these components?
The components of the transport system in human
beings are the heart, blood, and blood vessels.
The heart pumps oxygenated blood to different parts of the body and receives deoxygenated blood from them and sends this to the lungs for oxygenation.
Blood has three main functions namely
transportation (oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, enzymes, and antibodies), protection (platelets in the blood enable clotting of blood thereby preventing blood loss, WBC impart immunity and protects us from various pathogens), and regulation (regulates body temperature).
Blood vessels transport blood throughout the body.
