Question

What are the conclusions derived from expression of the kinetic energy?

Open in App
Solution

Kinetic energy: The energy possessed by the object due to its motion is called Kinetic energy.

Kinetic energy is one-half of the mass with velocity squared. Hence, the more we increase the speed, therefore kinetic energy increases.

K.E=12mv2

Conclusion:

  1. The mass of a body is directly proportional to its kinetic energy.
  2. K.E.αm
  3. This means, "When a body's mass is doubled, its kinetic energy is also doubled." On the other hand, if a body's mass is halved, its kinetic energy is also halved as long as its velocity remains constant."
  4. The square of the body's velocity is directly proportional to its kinetic energy.
  5. K.E.αv2
  6. "When a body's velocity is doubled, its kinetic energy is quadrupled." When the velocity is halved, however, the kinetic energy is reduced to one-fourth."
