Breathing:

  1. The process, by which air is drawn in from the atmosphere into the lungs and forced out from the lungs back into the atmosphere is known as breathing.
  2. The number of times a person breathes in one minute is called breathing rate.
  3. The breathing rate in normal adults is about 12-18 times per minute.
  4. Atmospheric oxygen content, temperature, light, water content, carbon dioxide concentration, and protoplasmic conditions are some of the factors that influence the rate of breathing.
  5. The breathing rate of a person increases with increased physical activities such as exercise, running, weightlifting, etc.
