What are the constituents of the producer gas?
Air is passed over the red-hot carbonaceous fuel and carbon monoxide is produced which is called producer or suction gas. The reaction is exothermic and proceeds as follows:
2C(s)+O2(g)+4N2(g)1273 K−−−−→2CO(g)+4N2(g)Producer Gas
While the mixture of CO + H2 is called water gas and if CO + H2 contains traces of carbon dioxide CO2 then it is called syngas.
