What are the differences between mass and weight?

Mass is the measure of matter contained in a body whereas weight is the force with which the earth attracts a body. Mass is a scalar quantity while weight is a vector quantity. The SI unit of mass is kilogram(kg) whereas the SI unit of weight is newton (N). Mass remains constant everywhere while weight varies from place to place.
