Himalayan Rivers Peninsular Rivers
Himalayan rivers originated from the
Himalayan Mountains.
Peninsular rivers originated from the Peninsular Plateau and the Central Highlands.
Rivers are perennial in nature and contain water throughout the year. Rivers are seasonal in nature and depend on monsoonal rainfall.
The Himalayan rivers are longer in length and have large drainage basins. Peninsular rivers are smaller in length and have small drainage basins.

Himalayan rivers make large deltas. Peninsular rivers (east-flowing) make
smaller deltas.
Examples of the Himalayan rivers are the Indus, the Ganga and the Brahmaputra.

Examples of the Peninsular rivers are the Narmada, Tapi, Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri.
